Open the foil pouch, dissolve contents in 900 mL of water; add additional water to a final volume of 1 liter to make a 0.1 M solution at a temperature of 25 ℃. No pH adjustment is necessary. Guaranteed accuracy: ±0.1 pH units.
Tris has a significant temperature coefficient, so select the mixture to give the desired final pH at the desired temperature.
From 5 ℃ to 25 ℃, the pH decreases an average of 0.03 pH units per ℃.
From 25 ℃ to 37 ℃, the pH decreases an average of 0.025 pH units per ℃.
If a different concentration is desired, note that there is a concentration effect on the pH of the solution.
