Trace Metals 3 - WS proficiency testing material is produced in accordance with ISO/IEC 17043:2010. The PT portfolio allows our test components to offer significant performance data to monitor and prove competency to customers, accreditation bodies or both.

Supelco^® is a global proficiency testing (PT) provider that manufactures best-in-class environmental and pharmaceutical PT products. Most water PT samples are available as concentrates or ready-to-use volumes giving the end-user flexibility in selecting samples that will fit their exact needs. Our WS program is designed to meet the quality assurance requirements in compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), thereby ensuring the analytical competence of your laboratory or drinking water facility.
These samples are typically provided in duplicate for use in case of lab mishap, for QC purposes or to analyze multiple methods.

Description

• PT sample is packaged as a 20 mL concentrate.
• The solvent for this sample is 5% nitric acid by volume in DI water.
• The PT sample has not been preserved.

Sample Preparation

• To prepare the solution, partially fill a 1000-mL volumetric flask with reagent-grade water (near 20 ℃) and add 1 mL of trace-metal-grade nitric acid.
• Shake ampule well prior to opening.
• Open ampule PE1448-20ML (be careful to avoid cuts on glass) and transfer 10.0 mL of concentrate to the volumetric flask.
• Fill the flask to volume with reagent-grade water and mix well.
• The sample is now ready for immediate analysis.
• A reagent-grade blank should be analyzed concurrently for background correction.
• The water blank should be made to match the acid matrix of the standards and samples.
• Each analyte is reported in μg/L.

NOTE: The 0.15% v/v nitric acid specification is a minimum; the amount and type of acid may be altered to routine analytical procedures if needed.
