Interleukin-21 (IL-21) is a protein encoded by the IL21 gene in humans and is a proinflammatory cytokine complex. It is a CD132-dependent cytokine that plays a key role in regulating inflammation. IL21 is a central memory T cell-associated cytokine that promotes Th17 differentiation and IL-10 production. It also inhibits the generation of potentially pathogenic Th1/17 effector cells. IL21 plays a crutial role in T cell differentiation.

应用
Anti-Interleukin-21 antibody produced in chicken is suitable for indirect ELISA and western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.
生化/生理作用
Interleukin-21 plays an important role in the proliferation and maturation of natural killer (NK) cell populations from bone marrow, in the proliferation of mature B-cell populations co-stimulated with anti-CD40 and in the proliferation of T cells co-stimulated with anti-CD3. IL21 helps in B cell activation, expansion and PC (plasm cell) differentiation induced by direct interaction of B cells with activated T cells. It plays a critical role in antitumor immune responses. It is found to be associated with chronic inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. IL-21R is found in early human tendinopathy mainly expressed by tenocytes and macrophages. It may be closely related with the development and progression of coronary artery disease (CAD).
