HBP1 (HMG-box transcription factor 1) is a member of high-mobility-group (HMG) family of transcription factors and has role in transcription activation and induction of heterochromatic regions. It binds pRb and has role in premature senescence. HBP1 represses the activity of DNA methyltransferase 1 and regulates DNA methylation and cell senescence.
