Mitogen-activated protein kinase-activated protein kinase 5 (MAPKAPK5) is a member of the serine/threonine kinase family that responds to cellular stress and proinflammatory cytokines. This 471 amino acid protein is widely expressed in tissues. The gene encoding MAPKAPK5 is localized on human chromosome 12q24.12-q24.13.
生化/生理作用
Mitogen-activated protein kinase-activated protein kinase 5 (MAPKAPK5) is activated through its phosphorylation by MAP kinases including MAPK1, MAPK14, and MAPK11. It is activated in HeLa cells in response to cellular stress and proinflammatory cytokines. MAPKAPK5 activity is regulated by p38-α and p38-β both in vitro and in vivo, and thr-182 is the regulatory phosphorylation site of MAPKAPK5. In vitro, the protein phosphorylates heat shock protein HSP27 at its physiologically relevant sites. It may have a role in actin polymerization, cell motility and tumor suppression.
