Cullin-associated and neddylation-dissociated protein 1 (CAND1) is a 120-kDa Huntington, elongation factor 3, PR65/A, TOR (HEAT) repeat-containing protein. It is a centrosomal protein located in the nucleus and cytoplasm. CAND1 gene is located on human chromosome 12q14.

Cullin-associated Nedd8-dissociated protein 1 (CAND1) can modulate cyclin D, c-Jun, and S-phase kinase-associated protein 2 (Skp2). It plays a key role in centriole duplication control. CAND1 binds to cullin 1 (CUL1) and suppresses the activity of Skp1–Cullin–F-box (SCF) ubiquitin ligase. It is required to control cullin-RING ubiquitin (Ub) ligases (CRLs) in eukaryotic cells. It plays an essential role in adipogenesis. CAND1 is a well-known target for the treatment of obesity and several cancer types. CAND1 prevents neddylation of CUL1 by physically blocking access to the neddylation site. It enhances transcription from various types of promoters. CAND1 disrupts interactions between CUL1 and SKP1A and between CUL1 and F-box proteins.
