1-Decanethiol is used to improve charge injection by creating a monolayer of this material on gold source-drain electrode surfaces for field-effect transistors (FETs). It is also used in the study of self-assembled monolayers.

Store in cool place. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Recommended storage temperature: 2 - 8?°C. It is sensitive to air. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
